Make GA4 report revenue, not just sessions.
GA4 is the reporting spine of your stack, if it is set up for how SaaS actually sells. We configure events, key events, audiences, revenue values and integrations so GA4 supports pipeline decisions.
GA4 in three lines
Event-based by design
Everything is an event with parameters.
Instead of sessions and pageviews, GA4 records events you define: demo booked, trial started, pricing viewed, plan chosen.
Audiences that sync
Build segments and push them to ad platforms.
Create audiences from behaviour and send them to Google Ads, SA360 and DV360 for targeting and exclusions.
Connected to the ecosystem
Links to Ads, Search Console, BigQuery and more.
Native links to Google products and a BigQuery export for joining web data with CRM and revenue.
Why GA4 disappoints B2B SaaS teams
GA4 gives you data. It does not hand you a pipeline view. That takes setup.
Key events that mean nothing
Marking every form submit as a conversion makes the numbers look good and teaches ad platforms to chase junk.
No revenue or pipeline value
Without value attached to events, GA4 cannot show which campaigns produce revenue.
Anonymous visitors, long cycles
The visitor who read your blog in March books a demo in June from another device. User ID and CRM joins matter.
Sampling and thresholds
Reports hide or limit data on small segments, which B2B volumes hit constantly.
How much of your spend can you not tie to a source?
If GA4 and your CRM do not connect, a big share of leads lands in direct or unknown. Estimate what that hides.
Illustrative model on your own inputs. Defaults are placeholders, and anything marked assumption is yours to set. It is not a result we promise.
GA4 features and benefits for B2B SaaS
What Google emphasises, and the parts that actually move a SaaS marketing team.
Audience building
Behavioural and custom segments.
Build audiences like pricing-page visitors who did not book, or trial users who hit a key feature, and sync them to ads.
Revenue tracking
Attach value to events.
Pass deal or plan value with events and import CRM outcomes, so campaigns can be compared on revenue.
Ecosystem integrations
Ads, SA360, DV360, CM360, Search Console.
Share audiences and conversions between GA4 and the rest of GMP, so tools work from one set of definitions.
Call tracking
Bring phone leads into the picture.
Call-tracking integrations (with tools such as CallRail) can send call events into GA4, so phone-led deals are not invisible.
BigQuery export
Raw event data for modelling.
Join web behaviour with CRM stages in BigQuery to see the full path to closed-won.
Data-driven attribution
Credit spread across touchpoints.
A model that distributes credit across touches. Useful, but still limited by what GA4 can see, so we pair it with Floodlight and CRM data.
How we set up GA4
Plan the measurement
Business questions first, then events, parameters and key events.
Implement through GTM
Clean tags, consent-aware and QA tested end to end.
Connect and sync
Link Ads, SA360, BigQuery and the CRM; build and export audiences.
Report pipeline
Dashboards in Looker Studio that show channel to revenue, not channel to sessions.
One measurement stack, not five disconnected tools
GA4 reads what Tag Manager sends and feeds audiences to SA360 and DV360.
Proof: Couples Resort, GA4 revenue tracking tied to real spend decisions
Couples Resort is a luxury all-inclusive resort group we have run paid media for since 2023. Their buying journey is long, high-consideration and expensive to get wrong, which is the same shape as a B2B SaaS pipeline. The measurement stack behind it is the part that transfers.
Negative keywords, in tiers
Search waste was a structure problem, not a bidding problem.
We built a tiered negative keyword architecture (roughly 540 terms) and kept it alive with n-gram analysis of search terms, so budget stopped leaking into irrelevant intent.
Meta reported vs reality
Meta said roughly 50X. The cross-channel view said far less (5 to 7X is an estimate).
Meta self-reported about 50X. Deduplicated in Floodlight through Campaign Manager 360, the real contribution was nearer 5 to 7X (estimate). Still strong, but a very different budget decision.
Year-one ROAS
Blended return in the first year, measured against revenue.
About 30X blended ROAS in year one, then incremental growth every year since. The channel mix: Search Ads 360, Meta via Campaign Manager 360, YouTube and Bing.
- GA4 revenue tracking connecting spend to revenue, not clicks
- Search Ads 360 and Campaign Manager 360 reporting reconciled against GA4
- Meta claims checked against independent numbers
- Decisions made on return, channel by channel
Results are from our work with a single client and are directional, not a promise. The 5 to 7X figure is an estimate. Client approval for naming, imagery and quotes is handled separately.
Questions B2B SaaS teams ask us
How do I track revenue in GA4 for a B2B SaaS company?
Send events with a value parameter and import CRM outcomes such as SQL, opportunity and closed-won. Then mark the meaningful ones as key events.
Can GA4 track phone calls?
Through call-tracking integrations that send call events into GA4. Capability depends on the call-tracking vendor.
Does GA4 replace Analytics 360?
GA4 is the standard product. Analytics 360 is the paid enterprise tier with higher limits and extra support.
How is GA4 different from Universal Analytics?
GA4 is event-based, has different attribution defaults and different data retention. Old reports and goals do not carry over.
Turn GA4 into a pipeline report
We will audit your events and key events and show you what revenue reporting would take.
